Red Squirrel Loop via Garlic Farm, Godshill, Wroxall, Shanklin and Sandown

A 26 mile loop that requires a moderate to good level of fitness, especially if on a standard MTB. My advice would be to head off in the original route direction, however it can of course be done both ways. Have a break at The Garlic Farm or Pedallers Cafe and then explore Godshill if you want. Look for bike lock bars in the first car park on your right, as you enter. From Godshill to the Freemantle Gate, you will need some perseverance, as this is the most gruelling section. Enjoy the views from the top and once you've been through Wroxall it's a very gentle downhill / flat to Shanklin along the old railway line. Enjoy Shanklin seafront (perhaps a crazy golf break), or keep heading to Sandown along the esplanade with all the sea views to admire. Yaverland beach can be beautiful at low tide once you have walked 500m past all the sunbathers. The route heads out from Yaverland on the main road, but the views should have been worth it. From Brading you'll head back along the old railway line again and then a final hill back into St Helens and you'll know that refreshment isn't far away.
